Our Outings

Our Outings

We will give you details and reports of the Outings we have planned and that have already taken place together with news of organisations that have assisted by donating events or special discounts for our Stars. We aim to try and help these children smile, to forget about hospitals, or doctors or nurses. This day is their day to spend with their families doing what makes them happy.

Chessington World of Adventures

Summer 2016

This was our biggest adventure yet! Over a few weekend thirteen of our Stars and their families were treated to a luxury weekend away at Chessington World of Adventures to have fun at both the park for the zoo and park for the rides.
It was packed with different things for the families to do, including feeding sea lions and other wonderful memory making.
We are so grateful to the Friends of Shelby Newstead who generously funded five of our Stars to go.

Wicked Outing 14 February 2015

Our Katie Star went to see the London show Wicked at the Apollo Theatre, Victoria.

When Dorothy famously triumphed over the Wicked Witch, we only ever heard one side of the story. Gregory Maguire's acclaimed 1995 novel, 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West', re-imagined the Land of Oz, creating a parallel universe to the familiar story written by L. Frank Baum and first published as 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' in 1900.

Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students at Shiz University: the blonde and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba.

Oakley's Outings paid for our Katie Star and her family to travel by train and for tickets to this spectacular show. Here are some photos of the day...
