We have fiverunners lined up for this year’s Great North Run for you to support including two of Jessica’s carers, one sponsored by our care provider agency Pulse Community Healthcare, the other running as an independant!
Nicholas Bannister – Local lad No1 [Newcastle] “I am running the Great North Run this year to raise money for Share a Star. They are a fantastic organisation who have helped someone dear to me.”
Michael Price – Local Lad No2 [Newcastle] “Despite vowing never to run another Great North run, I once again find myself preparing to put myself through one of the world’s biggest half marathons! What better way to celebrate the day than knowing that you’ve helped put a smile on a sick child’s / young person’s face!”

The Oakley Cool Bug is on his travels again. Do you recognise the skyline behind him?
He arrived in Delhi, India with trustee “Chuckles” and Ruby who are visiting as part of the work Colin does as trustee of Adventure Ashram charity. They are heading for the Spiti Valley on the Himalayas for the grand opening of a community centre the charity had helped fund.
“Hello. I’m really pleased to be helping Share A Star again in their fundraising endeavours. They thought I’d be keen because they know I like kayaking, I just kind of hope the lack of paddling skill I possess transfers better to rowing! Share A Star do some great work supporting severely unwell children and young people. Any support you can give will make an amazing difference.”
At the Spring Fair last weekend we were able to launch our new T shirts to support Oakley’s Outings and Share A Star.
Our new T-shirts can now be purchased onlineand we can deliver to you (see store for postage costs) or arrange for their collection through Oakley’s Outings. Click the Buy Now button, below to add to your basket.
You can see a range of other Share A Star items including hoodies, vest tops, wristbands and artwork. We hope to be launching some jewellery ranges too.
We can take credit or debit cards through our secure PayPal account or you can pay direct from your PayPal account.
Share A Star have just signed up for a boat at the KM Charity Team’s Dragon Boat Race in Mote Park, Maidstone on 5 July 2015.
We will be looking for a team of up to 33 members* to represent Share A Star and Oakley’s Outings. We will be looking for a small booking fee to cover our entry costs and a team t-shirt (or wet suit!). Above that we will be asking participants to raise sponsorship via our online events pages. We will have a Team page under our Team name “SaSOO” and individuals will be able to have their own giving page off the main page for your individual pleas to friends, family and strangers! Teams of 11 will compete in 3 races over a 250m course so the more members we have the less energy we will need!
*Anyone aged from 14 can take part and Race the Dragon
We will also be booking a stall to promote the charity and our work including the Oakley’s Outings project. So if your partner is racing perhaps you can volunteer to man the stall for an hour…
Look out for further news and how to register your interest in participating in our team.
