Virgin London Marathon 2017

We have received an offer from a London Marathon participant to raise funds for us through sponsorship. If you are running and are looking for a charity to support then we have set up an event on our online donation pages. You can set up your own fundraising page by clicking on the link here. You can collect online payments here and for those who are eligible we can collect Gift Aid too, meaning their donation is boosted by 25%!

Runners who are raising funds for us will receive a charity running shirt and we will share your details on our social media sites.

Contact us for more details.

The Virgin London Marathon starts in Greenwich Park, next to the Greenwich Observatory. Runners then make their way through Woolwich, past the Thames Barrier and then Cutty Sark. They will then continue towards Bermondsy. At the twelve-mile point they will see Tower Bridge, which they cross before turning right towards Canary Wharf. Next on towards Limehouse and the 20-miles stage, where many runners may ‘hit the wall’ as their bodies run out of energy. Those who continue will pass the Tower of London, run along Embankment, past the Houses of Parliament and past Nelson’s Column reaching the final 500m along Birdcage Walk, past Buckingham Palace and over the finish line to the sound of well-deserved cheers

Please make sure you have secured a place in this event before you start fundraising.

Sshh! Tesco Staff silently raising funds for Oakley’s Outings

Sshh! Tesco Staff silently raising funds for Oakley’s Outings

Medway, May 26, 2016:  A Tesco’s Strood employee wanted to raise a smile on young Oakley Orange’s face and Oakley saw this as an opportunity to help raise awareness and funds for the project named after him, Oakley’s Outings.  Glad Kinzett, cashier, is known to be a “bit of a talker” thought it would be a challenge to stage a sponsored silence. It will be difficult to be silent when working on the tills so Tesco’s have raised the bar and through their Community Champion Oakley’s Outings had a stall at the store where customers could find out about the work the parent charity, Share A Star, do through Oakley’s Outings and its other projects. Glad manned the stall, quietly, from 8am to midday when other staff will took over. Share a Star trustee Lorraine Orange called in at the store to lend a hand and Tesco's mascot was there too.

Funds

As well as raising awareness of Oakleys Outings the event raised £183.

We would like to thank Glad and Tesco's Strood for supporting the day. The monies raised will help fund another outing for a severely ill child with their family.

Tombola Appeal

Two lovely ladies are doing a tombola to raise funds for Oakleys Outings in July.  We are asking for donations for the stall please. Tins, chocs smellies anything that would be suitable for a tombola stall please.

    • “Hello. I’m really pleased to be helping Share A Star again in their fundraising endeavours. They thought I’d be keen because they know I like kayaking, I just kind of hope the lack of paddling skill I possess transfers better to rowing! Share A Star do some great work supporting severely unwell children and young people. Any support you can give will make an amazing difference.”
